We are very sorry to share the news that Jim Leaviss passed away on 23 July 2026, aged 55. This announcement brings a profound sense of loss to all who knew him. During this period of mourning, the family’s wish is for privacy, and consequently, the funeral arrangements will remain private, limited to close family and friends. However, for those who would like to make a donation in Jim’s memory, the family has requested that contributions be made to Cancer Research UK. This specific charity provides a meaningful way for individuals to offer support and pay tribute to his life while respecting the family’s request for solitude.

We appreciate that there will be a desire across the industry to honour Jim’s life and legacy in the future, given the stature he achieved in his field. Jim joined M&G in 1997, marking the beginning of a long and significant association with the firm. Over a 27-year career, he made an extraordinary contribution that helped define the company’s direction. He played a central role in building and shaping our Fixed Income business, taking it from its earlier stages and molding it into a powerhouse. Through his efforts, this business unit grew to become one of M&G’s key strengths, relied upon by clients for its stability and performance.
